CONFERENCE ON THE PHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF IRON PROTEINS, STANFORD UNIV., CALIF., APRIL 17-19, 1967.

Abstract

The Biophysics Laboratory at Stanford University in cooperation with the Office of Naval Research sponsored a meeting on the subject of the Physical Properties of Iron Proteins, April 1967. It consisted of invited papers by speakers from the United States and abroad and included several post-deadline contributions. The subjects were grouped narrowly about physical techniques and measurements as opposed to chemical techniques and measurements. A large fraction of the papers concern themselves with Hemoglobin and Myoglobin and in particular physical studies of the heme iron. The experimental techniques included x-ray diffraction, magnetic resonance, magnetic susceptibility, Mossbauer resonance, optical and far-infrared absorption spectroscopy and photoelectron spectroscopy.
