THE TENTH BRITISH THEORETICAL MECHANICS COLLOQUIUM (OXFORD, 2-5 APRIL 1968).
Abstract
This is a report on the Tenth British Theoretical Mechanics Colloquium which was held in Oxford, 2-5 April 1968. The terms Theoretical Mechanics and Applied Mathematics are virtually synonymous in Britain, and the yearly Colloquium serves as the principal meeting for British Applied Mathematicians. Attendance at this Colloquium exceeded 360, the largest ever. Some 60 contributed papers were divided into three groups, corresponding roughly to the areas of solid mechanics, incompressible fluid mechanics, and gas dynamics. In addition to the contributed papers, there were three long invited papers and a few casual discussion sessions. (Author)
