A CRANZ-SCHARDIN SYSTEM FOR THE PHOTOGRAPHIC STUDY OF CAVITATION BUBBLE COLLAPSE,

Abstract

The major parts of this system are the light sources, the trigger electronics, an optical bench with the field optics, and the camera. The photographic system is being used to study cavitation bubble collapse in the diffuser section of a two-dimensional venturi. Optically flat windows form part of the walls of the venturi in order to reduce optical distortion. To determine the effect of a solid boundary on cavitation bubble collapse, a wedge is introduced into the diffuser section of the venturi. (Author)
