APPLICATION OF THE RADIOMETER AUTOTITRATOR IN STUDIES OF REACTION KINETICS,

Abstract

Flexibility, convenience, and precision have made automatic titrators popular analytical instruments. One of their important applications has been the measurement of the rate of acid- or alkali-producing reactions at constant pH in the absence of buffers. For approximately 1 year we have been using an automatic titration assembly for measuring rates of acid-producing hydrolytic reactions which are highly sensitive to pH. During this time we have collected and developed useful techniques and procedures, and have evaluated reproducibility and precision obtainable with the equipment. An introductory outline is offered for the application of the automatic titrator in studies of reaction kinetics, and suggestions are made for its most efficient use. Data on reproducibility and error are given. (Author)
