A SIMPLE AND ACCURATE FORMULA FOR THE CALCULATION OF THE VELOCITY OF SOUND IN SEA WATER.

Abstract

A formula for easy calculation of the velocity of sound in the ocean is presented. It has been developed to approach within 0.1 m/s of the values given by Wilson's second formula for most ocean cases. It uses depth instead of pressure as a parameter and is simple enough for the calculation to be made by hand. (Author)
