MICROBIOLOGY OF DEEP SEA SEDIMENTS.

Abstract

Deep ocean sediment top layers collected by piston coring in the Indian Ocean, South Atlantic and Pacific Oceans contain viable bacterial populations consistent with those found previously. Trigger core top water is apparently extremely low in microbial content when uncontaminated with sedimentary particles. (Author)
