PRELIMINARY COMPUTATIONS ON STABILITY OF THE LAMINAR BOUNDARY LAYER AT MACH NO. 2.

Abstract

The work presented here is concerned with the prediction of the boundary layer stability on a vehicle operating at the highest possible Mach number for which existing theories may be expected to remain valid. The study is made for a vehicle which has been accelerated to M = 2 at an operational altitude somewhere between 35,000 and 100,000 ft. and has been cruising at this Mach number long enough for thermal equilibrium to have been established in the flow about the body.
