Abstract
The report describes the efforts to develop a sensitive precision taut band meter with a five inch scale in a prescribed rectangular case. Preliminary guide lines laid down by engineering studies have been incorporated into an enlarged master assembly drawing made to scale. Detail drawings of parts and subassemblies have been made. One set of parts were made per prints after which the project developed along two parallel lines. The first was the assembly and test of the complete case to the environment tests, the second was the assembly and test of the taut band mechanism with emphasis in the electrical characteristics followed by limited environmental tests.
