A STUDY OF FATTY POLYSACCHARIDES IN AN ENTEROBACTERIUM,

Abstract

A fraction of the fatty polysaccharide complex of an enterobacterium (Proteus P 18), isolated by ultra-centrifuge, was studied. By means of gas chromatography the following components were identified: the alpha and beta glucoses, one heptose, galactose, and traces of ribose. Paper chromatography revealed the presence of glucosamine, galactosamine, and a uronic acid. (Author)
