DEVELOPMENT OF SOLID STATE DISPLAY CONTROL CIRCUITRY.

Abstract

A research and development program to design and demonstrate a reliable and inexpensive control scheme for high brightness electroluminescent displays is described. The program resulted in the development of an inexpensive easily fabricated control scheme using an X, Y switching arrangement. The X and Y switches were capable of operating at 800 V peak and 400 Hz. Advanced techniques were employed for fabricating resistor and diode boards which mated directly to an electroluminescent panel. A bar graph type display capable of several different presentations was fabricated. Utilizing an electroluminescent panel consisting of 128 lines at 32 lines per inch, the display demonstrates the versatility of the control scheme. (Author)
