EVALUATION OF LOW TEMPERATURE RESISTANT COATED FABRICS FOR PNEUMATIC LIFE PRESERVER.

Abstract

Life preserver fabrics with low temperature resistant coatings from three manufacturers and the lightweight life raft fabric were evaluated for low temperature resistance. A -80F cold flexing can be obtained in present weight configuration. A -90F cold flexing was obtained on a light weight urethane coated fabric and the lightweight raft fabric. Fabrication trials recommended to evaluate curling and stiffness properties of the new lower temperature fabrics. (Author)
