TEST OF HYDRAULIC RISE-OFF COUPLINGS,

Abstract

The hydraulic rise-off couplings consist of a Pressure Coupling (high pressure) and a Return Coupling (low pressure) connecting the missile hydraulic system with the hydraulic ground supply. During rise-off the missile-half and the launcher-half of each coupling separate. Each half of each coupling closes off hydraulic fluid by means of poppet valves which are spring loaded closed and pressure loaded closed after separation. During rise-off the Pressure Coupling should close-off just slightly before close-off of the Return Coupling. The purpose of this report is to determine the operating distance and maximum separation of the hydraulic rise-off Pressure and Return Couplings. (Author)
