ISOLATING AND IDENTIFYING URINARY GAMMA GLOBULINS,

Abstract

The gamma globulin fraction of normal urine, obtained by 2M ammonium sulphate precipitation, then subjected to DEAE-cellulose chromatography, reveals several components of differing molecular weights. These components are then separated again by Sephadex G-100 chromatography into homogeneous components under ultracentrifugation. The 7S gamma globulin in the urine displays the same physico-chemical and immunochemical properties as does plasmatic gamma globulin. The 3.5S gamma globulin differs from the 7S fraction both in molecular weight and in immunochemical behavior. The 2.2S gamma globulin is a mild antigen, and richer in glucides than the other two fractions. The urine contains no gamma globulin with a sedimentation constant lower than 2. (Author)
