A RECOILLESS PISTON FOR THE SACLANTCEN SPHINCTER CORER.
Abstract
A modification to the SACLANTCEN 'Sphincter' corer reported in Technical Report 34 is described. It consists of a simple system for positioning the piston relatively to a fixed platform lying on the sea floor, thereby eliminating recoil during deep-sea coring. (Author)
