Abstract

Distress signals were tested for conformance to U. S. Coast Guard Specification for Signals, Distress, Hand-Held Rocket-Propelled Parachute Red Flare, subpart 160.036. Performance tests of 24 signals are reported. The tests covered firing and operating characteristics, altitude, rate of descent, burning time, candlepower, storage, ignition and chromaticity.
