THE CHEMISTRY OF DETONATIONS. V. PRESSURES OF C-H-N-O EXPLOSIVES AT VARIOUS STAGES OF THE ISENTROPIC EXPANSION,

Abstract

An equation is given which permits the calculation of pressures on the K-W isentrope in the expansion of detonation products from (V sub J) to V = 2-00 cc/g. Use of the expression, in combination with equations given earlier, make it possible to accurately produce isentropes predicted through computer codes based on the K-W equation of state. The computations require no other input data than the explosive's elemental composition, loading density, and an estimate of the heat of formation. Results are included for 12 C-H-N-O explosives.
