NEW FINDINGS ON THE STRUCTURE OF GLASS (NEUE ERKENNTNISSE UEBER DIE GLASSTURKTUR),

Abstract

The clarification of the structure of glass has been the objective of numerous investigations during the last 30 years. This has led to two basic concepts, the network theory of Zachariasen and Warren and the crystallite theory of Lebedev. The existence of 2 parallel hypotheses indicates that the experimental proof, primarily poentgenographic examinations, is not sufficient for either of the theories to completely confirm all the properties of glass. Modifications in the two basic concepts have therefore been made by a great many authors. (Author)
