DESIGN, CONSTRUCTION, AND PROOF TESTING OF A VARIABLE CONFINEMENT SOIL LOADER.

Abstract

To develop equipment for investigating the effect of small amounts of radial strain on the constrained stress-strain relation of soil, an existing dynamic, one-dimensional compression device was extensively modified. With this device very rapid load-unload tests were conducted on soil specimens contained within rings of variable stiffness. (Author)
