THE IMMUNOFLUORESCENCE TEST FOR DETECTING SYPHILIS ANTIBODIES (DETAILS OF THE TECHNIQUE),

Abstract

The Fluorescent Test (FTA) permits results to be obtained that are comparable with those of the Nelson-Meyer Test (TPI), and its discovery simplifies the serodiagnosis of syphilis. The methods for preparing the requisite reagents (suspension of pathogen treponemas, conjugated antihuman globulins, etc.), the technical precautions and the reading procedures that, by avoiding confusion in interpretation, allow a better evaluation of its distinctive characteristics of high specificity and sensitivity, are described in this report.
