Abstract

As a contribution to the Five-City Study, this report examines the vulnerability of transportation resources in San Jose, California, to the effects of a hypothetical nuclear detonation. The transportation modes considered are railroads, waterborne commerce, and air and motor vehicle transportation. Estimates of damage to such resources as traveled ways, vehicles, and load transfer facilities are presented, and the capability of resuming operations in the postattack environment is discussed.
