DEVELOPMENT OF 1-KILOWATT AUDIO TRANSISTOR AND DRIVER TRANSISTOR FOR SONAR APPLICATIONS.

Abstract

The results of transistor pressings made this interval are reviewed. The process modifications made to improve peak hFE, maximum current capability, and emitter leakage are described. These modifications resulted in a peak beta as high as 40 at 4.5 amperes and 30 volts VCE, an ICmax = 11 amperes, and an emitter leakage of typically 10 milliamperes at 3 volts. Experiments carried out on several aspects of the pressing conditions are discussed in detail. Work initiated in the fabrication and testing of final output and driver units is also described.
