BREAKOUT FORCES.

Abstract

Description of test procedures and preliminary analysis of the first of a three year effort on a study of breakout forces is presented. It is found that breakout is not a serious problem for the great majority of marine salvage operations, since the vessels are often rotated or pivoted before lifting. It is concluded that a theoretical procedure can be developed which will be useful in planning operational procedures. (Author)
