BEHAVIOR OF FOWL, PIGEON AND CANARY POX VIRUSES IN CHICKS FOLLOWING INTRAVENOUS INOCULATION
Abstract
The behavior of fowl, pigeon and canary pox viruses was studied in chicks after intravenous injection. Several goals were pursued in this connection. A search was made for a simple test for safety determinations of fowl pox vaccines. The possibility was explored of establishing a qualitative measure of the capacity of different fowl pox strains to produce generalized pox disease. The behavior of pigeon and canary pox viruses upon intravenous injection in chicks was compared with that shown by fowl pox strains.
