RESEARCH ON MATERIALS ESSENTIAL TO CRYCOOLER TECHNOLOGY.

Abstract

The report provides tabulations of the experimentally measured values of the thermal conductivity of Ne between 52K and 90K, He4 and He3 from 4K to 20K at pressure of up to 200 atm. The experimental PVT measurements on N2, at 72.3K and 77.89K, and Ne between 30K and 70K, together with a discussion of the apparatus and accuracy of the data, are also reported here. The prediction of the solid vapor equilibria for the systems of CO2/N2 and N2/H2 is reviewed. A new apparatus for the measurement of solid liquid equilibria at low temperature is described. The set of thermophysical data for Ar which has been selected as the most consistent is presented here in the form of tables for a series of isobars and also as a P-H chart, with S and T as parameters, and separate graphs of isobars of the thermal conductivity and viscosity as a function of temperature.
