METEOROLOGICAL SATELLITE GROUND RECEIVING SYSTEM.

Abstract

A mobile ground receiving station is being developed that will receive video signals from weather satellites with automatic picture transmission, transform them into 800-line photographs, and retransmit the photographs over standard facsimile transmission systems. The photographs depict cloud-cover conditions in a given area. This information, supplementing other weather data, aids meteorological units in observing and forecasting weather, including weather over enemy territory. (Author)
