HOMOGENEOUS NONIONIC DETERGENT P-N-NONYLPHENOXYDECAETHOXYETHANOL,

Abstract

A model compound, p-n-nonylphenoxydecaethoxyethanol, representing the nonionic surfactants of the alkylphenol-ethylene oxide condensate type, was synthesized in several steps starting from phenol. The homogeneity and purity of the synthetic crystalline detergent was confirmed by physical and spectroscopic methods. The product is valuable in the study of the effect of molecular structure on detergency. (Author)
