INVESTIGATIONS OF THE ELECTRIC CHARGE OF AEROSOLS,

Abstract

The report describes a newly designed chamber for the measurement of size and charge of aerosols. In addition to the natural charge of some atomized liquids, the study concentrated on artificial charging of the aerosol in the passage through a corona discharge. The dependence of the charge on size and dielectric constant of the aerosol particles as well as on the ion density in the corona discharge can be theoretically interpreted. The influence of the charge on the stability of the aerosol is emphasized. (Author)
