PROJECT FLOOD REPORT ON DATA COLLECTED BY MINE DIVISION 43, CENTRAL MEDITERRANEAN SEA, MAY 1965.

Abstract

During May 1965, while in transit from Naples, Italy, to Athens, Greece, Mine Division 43 collected a substantial amount of oceanographic data for Project FLOOD. These data included bottom sediments, serial temperature and salinity, Secchi disc water transparency, and Forel Ule water color observations. The Mine Division also planted biological fouling arrays in the Gulf of Aranci, Sardinia. The data are presented in this report along with estimates of their accuracies. Most of the data results were very satisfactory and will make a useful contribution to our understanding of the Mediterranean Sea environment. A review of the manner in which the observations were made and recorded for the benefit of future participating ships. (Author)
