A THERMAL ANALYSIS OF AN ABLATING ELECTROMAGNETIC WINDOW.
Abstract
A computer program is developed to determine the temperature profile in an electromagnetic window as a function of the point in the vehicle trajectory. The program was written in FORTRAN IV for the CDC 6600 computer. A study which examines the effect of independently varying the thermophysical properties of the window material, the convective heat transfer rate, the initial temperature profile in the window, and the computational node size is presented. The results of this study show that many of the above parameters have a considerable influence on design considerations of the electromagnetic window. (Author)
