INVESTIGATIONS ON THE OCCURRENCE OF BIOLOGICAL STRAINS OF THE STRIPE RUST OF WHEAT DURING THE YEAR 1932

Abstract

Results are presented of the analysis of 77 samples of stripe rust from 59 different localities which are generally located in the main wheat- growing areas of Germany. All samples investigated were from the year 1932. In the samples of stripe rust investigated, a total of 11 different strains of stripe rust was classified. The frequency of the rust strains is very irregular in the different localities and is apparently determined by the reaction of the individual strains to the varieties of wheat primarily cultivated in a given area.
