FINE GRINDING WITH MECHANICALLY ACTUATED IMPACTORS

Abstract

Following a general delineation of impact grinding from disintegration by other mechanical methods, the areas of application of impact implements are described according to their divergent tasks. The effect of the flowing carrier medium on the resulting fineness is explained in terms of the theoretical behavior of small particles, their specific weight and their shape. The material's structure, repeated impact stress and the limits of stress are influential. Impact grinding is particularly suited to selective separation of structurally inhomogeneous substances.
