A STUDY OF THE INFLUENCE OF LUBRICANTS ON HIGH-SPEED ROLLING-CONTACT BEARING PERFORMANCE. PART VIII. RESEARCH AND ELASTOHYDRODYNAMIC LUBRICATION ON HIGH-SPEED ROLLING CONTACTS.

Abstract

Experiments have been conducted to evaluate the film-forming capabilities of various fluids designed essentially for the MIL L-7808 specification. In addition, various analyses have been conducted to try to explain the unusual variation of film thickness with loading observed with the X-ray technique, including a detailed evaluation of the technique itself. Experiments have also been conducted to determine the effect of a lubricant on the interfacial pressures between a ball and race in an 85-mm-bore bearing. (Author)
