BACTERIAL LEAF BLIGHT AND SHEATH SPOT OF RICE PLANT IN FLOODED DISTRICTS OF KUMAMOTO PREFECTURE,
Abstract
The present study was an attempt to investigate the extent of the 26 June flood damage on rice from the standpoint of crop disease according to the meteriological report of 1953 covering the growth period of rice. The weather was conductive to the outbreak of disease in the early period of growth, however, it improved in the later stage of rice growth. Accordingly, it may be safe to assume that the growth of rice progressed smoothly toward the end of its growth. (The meteriological report of 1953 is not presented here.) Therefore, it appears that the incidence of disease outbreak might have been considerable at the early stage of growth, which was progressively suppressed by the improvement in the weather. (Author)
