REDUCING MACHINE NOISE THROUGH THE WIDER APPLICATION OF PLASTICS (MOZNOSTI SNIZENI HLUCNOSTI STROJNICH ZARIZENI POUZITIM PLASTICKYCH HMOT),

Abstract

The acoustical properties of plastics are discussed from the viewpoint of their use in curbing machine noise. A general explanation is given of the advantages that can be expected from plastics. Several formulas are derived on the basis of physical laws. Plastics are compared with conventional materials, and the differences are underlined that must be taken into consideration in designing.
