CO2 LASER INVESTIGATIONS.

Abstract

The report describes the design of several CO2 laser devices and results of the experimental program carried on at USAECOM. A continuous power output of 252 W has been attained with a folded 4.8-m cavity length. Spectroscopic measurements of the output of a CO2 short tube laser have been taken, including single P- and R-line emission in both the 10.6-millimicron and 9-millimicron regions. An intercavity modulation technique utilizing the electrooptic effect in GaAs is discussed. The design of the optical systems of two interchangeable multipath single tube lasers in process of fabrication is described. (Author)
