RADIO-RANGE BEACON BOMB SIGHT (UNSICHTBARE WEGWEISER),

Abstract

The author describes the radar system used on the IL-18 aircraft enabling it to identify a storm area 150 km away. A similar system used in military aircraft -- the radio-range beacon system -- when used as a bomb sight makes it possible to drop heavy bombs thousands of kilometers into the target with an accuracy greater than that obtained with optical bomb sights.
