PYROMECHANISM FOR ACTUATING PARACHUTES, USSR PATENT 197410,

Abstract

A pyromechanism for actuating cargo parachute systems including the firing of container parts makes it possible to use a large pyrocharge without the danger of a pressure buildup in the combustion chamber and the destruction of the ignition devices. This is accomplished by means of a valve built in the combustion chamber and containing the pyrocharge which is held in position by a diaphragm so that the side openings in the valve coincide with the channels in the ignition devices. When the valve is actuated by the firing of the pyrocharge, it shifts and covers the channels, at the same time allowing the high-pressure gases to actuate the parachute without destroying the ignition devices.
