COHERENT TECHNIQUES FOR AUTOMATIC DIRECTION FINDER.

Abstract

Techniques for effecting frequency lock as well as phase lock were analyzed, and two techniques were investigated. In the laboratory program, a modified linlock circuit was constructed using digital tri-stable logic. The first circuit extends the linear phase characteristic beyond the 0 to 2 pi range. The second circuit has upper or lower limits when the frequency is increasing or decreasing. Both methods reduce the required time to lock in frequency, as compared with standard linlock circuitry. Test equipment was designed for comparative evaluation of the performance of the foregoing circuitry and of an analog alternative circuit during the next quarter. Detailed testing has been deferred pending receipt of filters. Qualitative testing has been done and it has been demonstrated that the two modified linlock circuits and the test set up are operative.
