CESIUM AND THALLIUM BEAM TUBE RESEARCH.

Abstract

Results of measurements of the gettering properties of antimony and graphite cloth are presented. A new thallium atomic beam tube was built and its properties are described. The value of the thallium 205 hfs resonance frequency measured with it is 21,310,833,946.6 Hz. Subsequent work, described in Appendix I, led to a more precise value of 21,310,833,946.59 plus or minus .06 Hz. The source of a frequency pulling effect associated with the double resonance technique was determined, and the effect eliminated. (Author)
