NUCLEAR ENERGY COMMISSION, HIGHER COUNCIL OF RESEARCH, AND THE CENTER OF RESEARCH IN PHYSICS IN MADRID, SPAIN.

Abstract

The report gives an account of a liasion visit to three institutions in Madrid: the Junta de la Energia Nuclear (JEN), Spain's Nuclear Energy Commission; the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cientificas (CSIC) or Higher Council of Scientific Research, which is the governing body that administers and controls essentially all aspects of scientific research in Spain, and the Centro de Investigaciones Fisicas (CIF) 'Leonardo Torres Quevedo,' a research institute devoted to experimental problems in basic and applied physics. There is given an appraisal of the work of each institution, and an effort is made to evaluate objectively the total research output in Spain today insofar as the physical sciences are concerned.
