PROPERTIES OF PYRIDINYL FREE RADICALS.
Abstract
The purpose of this work is to elucidate the properties of pyridinyl free radicals. Physical properties: Spectroscopic and electron paramagnetic resonance data indicated the formation of diamagnetic dimers from pyridinyl monoradical. Intramolecular association occurred in diradicals. Chemical properties: Halogen abstraction and electron-transfer reactions of pyridinyl radicals were distinguished by means of the effect of solvent polarity. Only the electron-transfer reaction showed a significant change in rate with a change in solvent polarity. (Author)
