DEVELOPMENT OF AN AIRBORNE FORMATION FLIGHT PROGRAMMER (AFFPRO).
Abstract
The purpose of the AFFPRO is to provide actual formation flying experience using only one aircraft (helicopter). This will permit experimental evaluation of previous ground studies plus actual displays and flight tactics even before formation flight sensors are available and without flying a complete formation of aircraft. In the future, AFFPRO equipped aircraft could be used for pilot training in formation flying without the expense or risk of actual formation flight. (Author)
