OPTIMIZATION TECHNIQUES FOR IN-AIR THERMOPLASTIC RECORDING OF CHARACTRON DISPLAYS.

Abstract

The in-air technique for the recording of charactron-type CRT displays was optimized. A previous history of image pocking was successfully eliminated. The nature of the problem is studied through an analysis of the camera circuit; the results add clarity to the means by which 'repetitive recording' and 'ramp recording' yield the desired solution. Criteria for camera operation while meeting system constraints are given. The environmental effects of humidity are investigated. Multi-color encoding and projection of the in-air thermoplastic recording was developed. Both dual- and single-channel techniques are discussed. Six-color projection, by means of the single-channel technique, is illustrated. Additional colors can be added if desired. (Author)
