RESEARCH TO DETERMINE THE NATURE OF THE DELETERIOUS INTERACTIONS OF REFRACTORY MATERIALS WITH HIGH TEMPERATURE AIR SPECIES.

Abstract

Mass spectrometric studies of the evaporation and condensation of carbon are described. Modifications and additions to the pulsed molecular beam apparatus to allow studies of graphite condensation phenomena have been tested and are discussed. Studies of tungsten oxidation by atomic oxygen are reported. (Author)
