HOST-PARASITE RELATIONS

Abstract

The report concentrates on pronouncedly biotropic parasites. Such parasites have predominantly a narrow range of hosts. They can only 'attack' specific species or families of species that enable them to complete their development true to type. Apart from the fact that the parasite must be able to tolerate the environment on the surface of the host tissue (such as caused by secretions or excretion), it must be able to penetrate into the intact host cell.
