NAVAL ARMED RECONNAISSANCE STUDIES. VOLUME I - SUMMARY.

Abstract

This report defines and elaborates on 2 research model designated 'Trisect.' The basic TRISECT (Total Reconnaissance-Intelligence System Evaluation and Comparison Techniques) model framework has been defined as one which describes the relationships and interactions of the elements of the total reconnaissance-intelligence system, the supported command, and the environment in which they operate. Consideration is made of strategy, tactics and doctrine as the commander plans and executes operations involving the resources at his command to meet his assigned objectives. TRISECT, when developed, will be capable of providing evaluations to system designers and operational planners concerning the (cost-) effectiveness of system designs, proposed modifications and employment concepts. In each case the principle measure of effectiveness will be the increased 'military worth' (fulfillment of objectives) over other available alternatives. (Author)
