EVALUATION OF NYLON AND POLYOLEFIN JACKETED AIRCRAFT CONTROL CABLES.

Abstract

Endurance tests were conducted on standard MIL-C-5424A-1 stainless steel cables jacketed with extruded nylon and polyolefin materials to determine their performance under aircraft rigging conditions. The results indicate that nylon is superior to polyolefin and as a jacket material can flex around pulleys and protect the fine cable wires from environmental conditions encountered in jet aircraft.
