MOLECULAR ENGINEERING OF PT-BASED ELECTROCATALYSTS FOR HYDROCARBON FUEL CELL ELECTRODES.

Abstract

This report describes continued studies of the factors influencing the activity of platinum black catalysts for the electrochemical oxidation of propane. Two factors are considered in detail--the physical structure of the black and its influence on the mass transport processes of the reaction, and the intrinsic activity per real square centimeter of the catalyst surface. Nine new catalysts were prepared and characterized.
