SOME OBSERVATIONS ON THE DYNAMIC BEHAVIOR OF COMPOSITES

Abstract

An exploratory investigation of mathematical models for the description of wave propagation through unidirectional fiber-reinforced composites is reported. A self-consistent model using three concentric cylinders with different materials is studied. A pure shear wave propagation is presented. As another scheme of solving the dynamic behavior, fiber and matric properties may be simulated by periodic functions, from which the elasticity theory of heterogeneous media can be applied.
