Error Characterization of MALLARD Channels.

Abstract

This report describes the error performance of line-of-sight radio channels at frequencies of 247.5, 920, 1430, and 4610 MHz. Three paths covering a variety of terrains were investigated. Bit rates ranged from 0.25 to 2 Mbps. Tests were also conducted with reduced path clearance and with aircraft in the transmission path. Also studied were static and mobile vehicular tests at ranges up to ten miles using carrier frequencies of approximately 140 and 240 MHz. Bit rates for the vehicular tests ranged between 40 and 500 kbps. (Author)
